  • Under $40 earbud recomendations

I know use the search button and all that, but hey, I'm lazy. :fryingpan:

I am spending a lot of time either on a light rail train or at a hospital lately and that has lead me to the conclusion that all the ears bud style headphones I have a re garbage. I have a few decent sets of cans for over the ear, detailed listening but I am not willing to be seen in public walking around with those. I am too old and not nearly hip enough to carry that ind of look.

That said, I also am going to be shoving these into a pocket or bag fairly frequently so I don't want to spend too much on them. Really less than $40 (street, or err, online price. Not MSRP) would be ideal.

I am looking for fairly comfy ear buds (in ear not on ear) for my iPod. Something that is fairly comfy, perhaps with a variety of tips for different ear sizes, good for the $ SQ, and if possible some kind of filtering/canceling/blocking capability for ambient sound.

I was looking at the Sennheiser CX400 but am concerned with the short cord and flimsy cord comments.

Does anyone have any other recommendations that I should check out?

    Thanks in advance.

I was looking at those as well. How comfortable are they? Also, sorry for the potentially stupid question, but they don't have to loop over your ears like the cord shows in the photo do they? I hope that is just demonstration that it is flexible.

I'll add those to my short list.

They don't 'have to' per se but it does make them fit better. You don't really notice it and like I said, if you do they do sound better. The comfort is pretty good. I've worn them for hours when flying even if I didn't have any tunes pumping through them because they block out ambient noise so well.. Make sure you burn them in because when I first got them I thought they sounded like ****. Four hours later they sounded much better. Can't really beat em for the price.

I have CX400 and it came with an extender, so cord length shouldn't be a problem. I have no experience with decent headphones so I won't comment on the SQ.

all ear phones fit differently i think.. i have the jvc hafx300 and i really love the way they fit. They provide a ton of noise reduction and i barely even have to put the stock tips in my ears. The way theyre designed also gets rid of all microphonics. Ive bought two pairs of ear phones to try to replace the jvc at around $50, i ended up returning to the jvc both times. theyre a little out of your price range though it seems

earphones are tricky because the way they fit can change their sound... so if they dont fityour ear very well youre gonna get different sound than others hear. so take my listening pieces with a grain of salt, the jvc seem to boost midrange, but its all in a pleasing way imo. The bass is fast, and it seems to reach just low enough to actually be satisfying. The highs are good while not being too bright.

I paid $20 at Target a couple months ago for work......gotta say I'm very impressed given the miniscule price point. Came with 3 different sizes on the rubber inserts. Pretty comfy, great bass response. Highly recommend for a cheap set.

No recommendations for these yet? You guys are slacking. They're rebadged Ultimate Ears Super.Fi 3's for 1/3rd the price.

One thing to note is that they're very sensitive, so they will reveal hisses and other noises in the output of your gear. The way around it is to use an inline volume control to make them effectively less sensitive and increase their impedance.

Since your post made no mention of the brand or model you were recommending and just had a similar click here link, I would have to conclude that you are a lazy low life hypocritical son of a ***** more evil than MLS himself! :boxer:
