  • Need new XBOX 360

My 360 failed again with the Red Ring of death !

What advantages are there getting an Elite unit over the standard 60 Megabite 360 ? And how do I make sure I get a new one with the Jasper unit installed ? I see those are sapose to be a better 360 .

    Thanks :dizzy:

    NONE!!!!

Buddy of mine just sent in his elite for another one. Same thing Red Ring o' Death. If you get a new one it only as 90 day warranty too... There's also no guarantee you get new one with a Jasper unit... I was looking at getting one to play my buddies online with TW10 but man I'm afraid.....

Send it in, get replacement, ebay replacement, and buy a new one with the Jasper unit.

To get a Jasper, you have to peek through the window and nudge the xbox around slightly. As long as you see a ".1A" next to the 5V, you have a Jasper. The older xbox's were 16.5V and 14.2V versus the 12.1V Jasper, so only the last number is important. It's been 9 months since Jasper has been out, so I'd assume you would most likely get one......

I think you should be okay with the cheapest Arcade version since you can transfer your old hard drive. The Elite and Pro only seem to add more hard drive space as the main benefit.

Thats a thought but I'd have to pay for the repair.

I didn't think there was a place to plug a hard drive into a Arcade version. That is an excellent and cheaper idea.

There is indeed, and it works great. When my original 360 died on me and it was out of warranty, I replaced it with an arcade unit. Thankfully, no problems since.... :neener:

Definitely get the "jasper" revision, Kurt. That's the latest one that I have. On top of the 60nm CPU the jasper units also have a 60nm Graphics processor, too - requiring less power and producing less heat.

On top of that the jasper units also have 512mb of built-in memory on board, which any of the previous revisions don't...

Sorry to hear about your 360, though. I can empathize - I've been through 9 different consoles. That's right. 9. I'm on number 10, but it's going strong now.

                          I don't think it's a 90 day warranty.

                          From the MS Website:

The term "Warranty Period" means: (i) as applied to the Console, a period of one year (three years for conditions that either cause three lights on the ring of light on the front of the Console to flash red, or display an E74 error code on the video display connected to the Console) starting as of the date of your sales receipt for the purchase of the Console,

This Limited Warranty does not apply to Consoles or Accessories sold as used, refurbished, or reconditioned.
                          A. WARRANTIES
One Year Express Warranty on Console (Three Years for Three Lights Flashing Red). Subject to the terms and conditions of this Limited Warranty, Microsoft warrants to you only (the original retail purchaser) that, during the Warranty Period and under normal use and service, the Xbox Console will substantially conform with the printed user instruction materials packaged with the Console.
90 Day Express Warranty on Accessories. Subject to the terms and conditions of this Limited Warranty, Microsoft warrants to you only (the original retail purchaser) that, during the Warranty Period and under normal use and service, the Accessory will substantially conform with the printed user instruction materials packaged with the Console or Accessory (unless a separate written express warranty is packaged with the particular Accessory).
Implied Warranty. You may also have an implied warranty and/or condition under the laws of some jurisdictions, which is hereby limited to the duration of the Warranty Period. Some jurisdictions do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty or condition lasts, so the foregoing limitation may not apply to you.
As to any defects discovered after the Warranty Period, there is no warranty or condition of any kind.
Contact their support and let us know how it goes! Good luck!

lol what?? 90 day warranty?? do explain.. i dont even think that would be considered legal on a new product.

Do you mean that your buddy sent in his red-ring elite after a year, MS sent him a refurbished working one (they never send you a brand new xbox) which then had a 90 day warranty on it for ANY problems, not just red ring?
