  • Trip to San Diego (seeking advice)

Well we are heading to San Diego next week and I would love some advice on what to do and where to eat. I'm most interested in little hole in the wall type eateries. We're staying right on Ocean Beach.

We're also probably taking a 3/4 fishing trip on the San Diego.

    Thanks
    Eric

Well, you could visit Uncle Paul and Mike Hawker while you're out there. As for eateries, I did the cookin' when I was there (except for breakfast at the Holiday Inn Express in Escondido where I stayed) so I can't really help you there.

        Old Town!

        http://www.oldtownsandiegoguide.com/restaurants.html

If you like Mexican food, there is good stuff here. I can't remember the name of the place I went last, but they were good (not anything unusual but good). They had great strawberry margaritas.....I don't even particularly like strawberry margaritas. This place was on the left as you walk up the main alley (where all the historic structures are interspersed between shops) about half way in. These places can be very busy though.

Also, definitely not a hole in the wall, there is lots to choose from in the Gaslamp area: http://www.gaslamp.org/location_&amp%3B_directions.html

I miss going down to San Diego with a special someone who just LOVED that place.

Personally I love Anthony's. It's near old town and next to Star of India.

For nightlife I'd suggest the Gaslamp area as well.

Well we got back from San Diego yesterday. We had a great time. We stayed in the Ocean Beach Hotel. The hotel is older and not much on amenities but the location is wonderful. Right on Newport ave and across the street from Ocean beach. We ate at the restaurants on Newport including Hodads.

              What a fun trip.

Thanks for all the advice in this thread
