  • RIP Analog TV

It looks like analog TV is finally dead. Unfortunately a lot of elderly and rural folks will be without TV for awhile. Maybe considering the content these days that's a good thing, though I doubt they'll see it that way.
I have always been under the impression that the new digital standard would be broadcast in 16:9, but I guess that's not the case. What I would like to see is all hi-def.

I wonder if FM radio will also go by the wayside....

I rec'd a new company car with sat radio last fall. First few days were a love fest, but then I figured it wasn't really worth the $15/month or whatever once my free year was up. Then I spent a few days in a car without it. No way I'm going back to terrestrial. Content sucks. Commericals suck. Now I just hope Sirius doesn't go under...
As it turns out, I was never banned. I was wrong yet again. First Obama, now this. :)

I don't see how paying for something that is or was once free is better. Not only does it effect the millions of people that are employed in that medium but it effects the consumer's too.

I've got Xm in one vehicle and I love sports and travel alot so it comes in handy to pass the time. However I will not renew for more than the $6 a month I already pay. It seems that I'm not the only one as revenues have dropped to where they are now.

What is available to me on sat radio today was never free, unless I missed something. I wish no ill to the folks who work in terrestrial radio, but industries evolve. I will and do pay more for what I perceive to be a much better product, be it a car, a pair of speakers, cable tv, or radio.

You drive a car? What about those poor folks in the horse and buggy industry?

Everyone is entitled to make a living, but I will avoid commercials and DJ's at all cost. For music I use my iPod and for the small amount of TV I watch, I Tivo. I actually quit watching TV for many years before Tivo was available because not only was the content insulting, I can't abide the commercials. Apparently one can buy head units for your car now that don't even have a CD player. Now that's progress.

That's not even funny. Where I live I am caught in traffic behind them every once in a while. Or in the drive-thru lane at the bank. Not fun.

                      The fricking amish sure don't.

they should be required to either wear diapers, or the owner should have to clean the crap up.

I live in Amish Country also...rofl......

Too each his own and with more people opting for more technology we lose more and more. I'm happy with what we've got but most want the new stuff that comes out every year. It's a disposible world in many respects but I prefer to hang on to what I've got.

Looks like free radio is going to pay the price too. :crying: http://www.noperformancetax.org/
