That's terrible. While I don't realistically expect the Penguins to win, I'm hoping. And for anyone that notes a disparity between where I live vs. who I'm rooting for, I lived in Pittsburgh longer than I have in Michigan.
    So say we all.

It's a Bettman conspiracy! Payola to the refs, kickbacks from the southern/warm climate cities, avoidance of anything Canadian.....

I don't give the Penguins a big chance in Detroit. I missed game 6, was bumming. In some sense, I'm glad it went to 7. I have no input as to how that particular game was called.

Overall, though, I have to say that there have been a lot of borderline plays that MAY have been otherwise called that have been let go. I'm not talking about 20 seconds of too many men, or blatant person-on-person infractions.

In my eyes, there has been a LOT of borderline holding and interference calls on BOTH sides, that have been let go. And I like it; it keeps the play going, and - from what I have seen - hasn't greatly impacted the games. As long as it doesn't get out of hand, it's OK. A fine line for the ref's to walk. [again: I didn't see game 6, so my comments don't apply there]

And, just to be contrary....I have to say that this year overall contained some of the worst officiating I've seen in the NHL in my 44 years (OK, maybe watching hockey for about 36-37 of them).

But whatever happens, I hope the game is enjoyable to watch! I don't have any overriding love or hate for either team, just love to watch good players playing good hockey.

PS - great avatar, BTW! I may send it to a lady at work who's a huge Wings fan (has a couple of the players as Facebook friends, too)
What if the Hokey-Pokey really IS what it's all about?!

      Kinky Tom!

I really didnt want to mention what I also thought has been some of the worst calls ever(or lack of) but .......

It sure hasnt seemed like its been even standards this year, not to mention the back to back nights, just for the sake of tv(never done before)

Fleury made the saves in game 6, then backed that up with 23 saves in game 7. Quite the turnaround for him vs. game 5.

Dont even get me started on the way the game was called

:no clue:why the reffs were even there for other than to supervise the 2nd coming of the savior of the NCL (national crosby league) getting the trophy betman guaranteed him

:biglaugh: Some truth to the officiating.

It's good for business when other teams win championships and series go to game 7. There's no coincidence or faulty reffing....money to be had. Note the play where the Pens Capt was injured...ref right there and no call on him. That's as obvious a penalty as you'll ever see. I remember a Pistons playoff game a few years back where Lindsey Hunter had a breakaway and Lebron James grabbed his jersey from behind and he lost the ball or something...from that moment on, it was clear the Pistons never had a chance.

The only positive thing I can say about Pittsburgh is that they played nice defense at times (legally). Kind of lost respect for them altogether after the cheap hits at the end of game 5.
