Hello everyone I've missed all of you and spending time on the forum "chatting" about stuff. I see AV123 is still read only, so I guess I haven't missed much over there. Although it appears as though MLS is starting to ship some LS product and resolve the MFW issues which is wonderful news for all involved. I hope he's feeling better.
It's been a whirlwind of a time with reguard to the BIL. He's been off of the ventilator for nearly three weeks now, they've done a couple of surgeries on his shattered ankle and feel that although he'll most likely develop some serious arthritis (sp?) later, he should pretty much have full use and motion with the ankle. Maybe not 100%, but 90%+ for sure. They also put a pin of some sort in his hip and feel like it will be just fine.
We still don't know about his mental accuity just yet. He's been fully awake for just about three weeks now and although all of the brain swelling has gone down, he's still not "quite" clear about a lot of things. He doesn't "remember" the accident of course, but also a lot of time leading up to the accident seems to be missing. He knows who everyone is, but a LOT of the stressful/traumatic stuff going on with his wife and family prior to the accident seems to be buried or gone completely.
Either that, or his heart is bigger than the state of Texas and he's "choosing" to forget/forgive the problems with his wife. We can't be sure right now. All I know is, he seems to genuinly LOVE her and seems so darned happy when she's around. Speaking of her.... I'm really beginning to trust her and her motives to reconncile with him. She's stayed sober, followed her program's out-treatment program as well as the Al-Anon program I got ALL of us involved in.
But, it's been in our talks with the kids about her that have produced the most encouragement. They've been the ones who've lived with her all these years and they seem quite certain she is sincere in her efforts. They're old enough to understand the world and what their parents were going through prior to the accident. They also adamantly claim to know when she's being disingenious (another sp?). So, we have to trust them I believe.
It's been awfully busy with their school stuff, being at the hospital, the AA meetings, the meetings with the attorney etc. Though the REAL difficulty has been staying involved with our own two girls through all of this. Trying like the dickens to not short change them in any way, yet knowing in our hearts we are. But, I've got to admit.... our girls have been great.
Well my friends.... that's all I really have time for right now. Just know the quadman is still around and kickin' and thinking about all of you....
