  • Is audiocircle down?

Can't seem to connect to it...

At one point there was a comment about shutting it down... but thought that had passed...

    Anyone know?

Shutting it down for good; or down for maintenance or upgrade or something??

or maybe they'll go av123 style "read only". :)
As it turns out, I was never banned. I was wrong yet again. First Obama, now this. :)

It's been down all day. I'm a facilitator over there and there hasn't been any talk of shutting down, permanent or otherwise...definitely weird...

As far as I'm aware, the threat of it shutting down had passed. So, technical difficulties are my guess.
          So say we all.

They must be using AV123's new hosting service. I hear it only has 3% downtime. :fryingpan:

Yeah that's what I thought too...

Kind of bummed... I like strolling though the various circles over there...

              Still appears down.

JohnR has put up a notice letting everyone know that the ISP is down for service.

As much as I would like to believe the information the ISP provided JohnR (his posted message) about this being a "scheduled network maintenance window," I find it suspect...if it were true then he most definitely needs to find a new ISP.

Having been involved in a website for a couple of years, AC's ISP apparently had a catastrophic failure with no backup protocol in place. A good ISP will usually run a load balancer on the server farm for a given website. We experienced such a failure and it took less than 30 minutes to be back up and running again. My wife's company's website was down for four hours due to a cascading failure during a power outage. Maintenance outages were just minutes because they would reconfigure the load balancer to shift the load from the effective server to operational servers while they did whatever they do to the servers we were on. Why else would John have to spend his own time (days) to reconstruct the data onto another ISP? He really needs to look for another provider. SERIOUSLY!

Yeah, but the old URL's don't work. I used to use http://www.audiocircle.com/circles/index.php?board=16.0 to get to the GR Research Circle. Now the link is http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?board=16.0 to get there.
