  • Thank you Craig...

    Dear TCA folks and guests,

I know some things go without saying, but I felt moved to open this new thread because of a jazz concert I saw last night.

Everyone knows Craig doesn’t need more accolades because of his ego and that he has surrounded himself with loving friends and family. People close to him have no hesitation in telling him how much they appreciate him and love him. Rumor has it even his golfing buddies have said kind words about him…after a few drinks.

When reading through the various informative posts, I continually see a common theme – it appears to be cathartic for those who have been let down by MLS. This is a good thing because folks have a place to unload and do it an unfettered personal style, which hopefully will lead to a healing and forgiving process. Life is too short to carry negative water around.

    :applause: :applause: :applause:
    Thank you Craig,
    Luigi

Hey Luigi that was pretty sweet of you. You know I'm not one to stir anything up but does this mean

Good post Lou...just curious how the jazz concert prompted the post....

EDIT: Couldn't agree more BTW, thanks for a great spot you've got going on here Craig!

That means my posts represent just over 1.5% of all posts....

          "The other 1.5%"

that would be a better title than senior member.....

Thanks for giving us this place Craig to hangout. You are a real stand up guy. This place has in record time become my new home audio forum. I can't wait until I can actually buy some stuff. :assshake:

                Arthurs,

Saturday Night my wife and I attended the Poncho Sanchez Orchestra concert at Manchester Craftsmen Guild (an excellent venue BTW). They play great Afro-Cuban and Latin music. Due to one of my prior life experiences, I enjoy the opportunity to meet and great most groups who play at MCG. I spent most of my time talking to Poncho’s music director. We talked about audio equipment, family, tour dates and venues.

He described how playing music is a way for the band to express themselves and give back to the folks who share a love of music. Their goal and mission is to allow people attending the show the opportunity to forget about the sad things happening in their life and the world around them…to escape into a musical fantasy while they performed. They had everyone up and dancing salsa at the end the show. He said people need a social setting to be able to positively release (good and bad) feelings, so they can move on with life and “hopefully, not carry negative water from one day to the next.” It was a very moving and candid session with him and the other members of the band. Pancho has a great sense of humor and love of life. Some of the guys even attended a Pirates game earlier in the day to cheer on the home time.

As I was reading through the TCA threads, I realized this is exactly what Craig provided us. Yes, forums are intended for like-minded and similar interest folks to have a place to congregate and form a community. However, this site grew legs and got momentum when Craig allowed folks to vent off steam about their missing or under performing audio gear. Whether by design or sheer luck, he saw the need for common interest audio individuals to express how they felt about those situations having an adverse impact on them – unfulfilled or broken promises by folks they trusted. In doing so, Craig has created a great community where we can talk about breaking up with girlfriends, promises being kept by those who originally dropped the ball, finding that right avatar hottie (one of my favorites), getting banned at Audioholics, buying your daughter a Mustang, espresso machines, and … whatever you want.

Arthurs, that’s how my brain made the correlation of the two seemingly unrelated events into one pattern of thought.

Since I talked about Poncho, I want to give him a plug and suggest if anyone doesn't own any of his music, they should puchase "Do It!", "Soul Sauce", or "Raise you Hands."

                Peace and later,
                L

Got it Lou, makes perfect sense (I'm a little slow on the uptake sometimes) and I couldn't agree more wholeheartedly.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts about TCA, the concert and the discussion with the music director, it looks like I have some new music to check out now!

I have to say when I first came here me and Craig weren't quite friends, to put it mildly, and perhaps we aren't quite friends yet but I've acquired a measure of respect for the man and discovered some of his qualities. I still can't figure out why he made me a moderator though... How about a new slogan: "TCA, where being an annoying Canuck can be a good thing"...:)

I hate to break Craig's confidence, but he shared with me that he loves your flannel shirts.
