  • Need some ideas.. Dad is turning 60 and retiring

As the title states, my father is turning 60 on Mar 31st and he's also heading into early retirement. I want to get him something audio related as he is the one that got me started with a pair of Advent Prodigy Towers way back when (actually still have them)

I'm looking to spend $200-$300 on something really haven't decided what yet but I'd like it to be something audio related.

Does he listen to 2 channel or HT more often?

Squeezebox Duet may a good thing in your price range.

He's the type of guy that has speakers all over the house. I mean all over the house his br, lr, dr, kitchen, and even his bathroom.

I'm thinking about getting him some Elt's so he can add to them once he hears them and then can add the rest package once he gets his new place built. He is moving to Ok and living a peaceful life in the middle of nowhere. Mass, is just way too busy for him. :)

I'll second the SqueezeBox Duet idea, if he has a PC and you think he could handle ripping his CD's and/or would like a wide choice of internet radio stations. I just picked up the SQBD, and it's a great piece of equipment and becoming my go to source for almost all my audio listening.

            Kevin,

While not strictly audio related, I got a Wii as a retirement gift.

Initially I scratched my head a bit. THEN we discovered the bowling. Regular get togethers with friends for bowling nights now. They all love coming over.

Just a thought in your price range.

+1 for a Wii. We just bought a Wii this Christmas for my parents, who are in their mid 60's, and they love it. Especially the bowling and the Wii fit we also purchased for them.
