eD asks the big question: Do we suck ?

If you are on eDs mailing list you probably recently recieved an email with this as one of the headings:



Imagine what kind of response av123 would get with this kind of communication. Ouch. It is interesting though, to see one company soliciting feedback and another basically hiding because the expressed disappointments became too much to take. Granted, eD is much smaller (I think) and in a different place than av123 right now, but they've had some huge order fulfillment issues and have perservered so far. I think their credibility actually grew as they fought through those issues.

I admire eD. They pretty much put everything out there on the table.

They're pretty open about things, both positive and negative, that affect them. Doesn't matter if it's supplier issues, manufacturing issues, pricing issues....it's all reported.

They went through a little bout with amp issues. Don't know if they were using the same amp supplier as AV123. But, from the pictures I saw, (burnt/blown capacitors?) they sure looked similar. Never heard of anyone not receiving their subs. Never heard of anyone they owed money or product to not receiving product or refunds.

It does take them a long time to ship, however. They build to order (although this may have changed recently). So, that's one reason. They can do this because they usually don't build until they've got an order. Never understood this since they have to stock components.

But, all-in-all, I admire them. They don't hide. They don't offer excuses (just explanations) about order status, inability to ship, etc.

They also give specifics on how they are trying to improve....not just blanket statements about adding more moderators to their forums. Or, that they promise to do better with little in the way of measurable goals.

You really do have to wonder how they chose to go with "ED"...

On a similar note, I'm thinking about buying some ICs from Impotence Cable. I just hate stiff cables that won't fit behind your gear.

That is sweet and should lower the number of "where is my sub at" emails and calls. They are fairly small but they seem to run a tight shop and let the customer know what is going on.
