  • New Fanboy on the block

Posted a few times, but haven't introduced myself.

I ordered up my first 18.2 last Tuesday and am anxiously awaiting it's arrival whenever the day comes!

Found out about CHT through AVS, so that place cannot be that bad, right?

I don't have a huge crazy setup, got my man cave recently completed last July. Have a 58" Samsung plasma, Denon AVR 891, Jamo s606 towers, DCM center, and some puny polk's to round out the back of the 5.1. The .1 today is a polk pos505, soon to be donated to a buddy.

My atv has previously absorbed a lot of my fun money, but I can see more if going to the man cave entertainment area in the future. Wish I'd have known a little more before I bought my AVR and got one with pre-outs, but I guess that's just an excuse to upgrade.

Got the analog rat shack meter and REW installed, so will try my best to post up some accurate measurements down the road.

Next system upgrade is going to be some room treatments and a set of ceiling or wall speakers to run off of channel B of AVR to get some clearer music over in the pool table/bar area.

Will Post up some pics when I get the 18.2 in!

I live in Appleton, WI, so maybe we can get some get together arranged in the future!

    Later. Joe

Here are a few pics as it stands today. You can see where the pos505 is to the left of the tv, hoping SS 18.2 does the best there as well, should fit.

Nice layout Joe, very nice! That Terminator poster is in a perfect spot right next to your new 18.2 when it arrives. You will see exactly how fitting that is once you get everything setup and dialed in. ;)

THanks Mike! Didn't think of it with the Terminator poster there! Aside from the color scheme in the basement, which the wife did great with, she got that damn twilight poster in too. Everytime I post up a pic I get the "When you gonna get rid of the Twilight poster." Our last name is Cullen and some of the main characters have the last name Cullen so the wife thinks its extra cool. Keeping the poster is a small price to pay to be allowed all other freedoms down there, such as a SS 18.2!!!

How many cubic feet would you say that whole area is? And considering how large it looks, I'm curious to see how well your new 18.2 will do, maybe you might want to add another 18.2.......?? :D

Your room looks very similar to mine. Not only in style but in size to.

you see I have the tv on an articulating mount so you can see it perfect while shooting pool and have a very good view from the mini bar area with the field of view on the plasma. Have a DLP TV upstairs, that is enough projection in one house!

Step my game up would be IB setup!! There is a small storage room behind Jaws poster, like 9 x 12, sump pump and incoming water supply are in there. Open storage and furnace and water heater are in the room directly behind the existing tv.

Welcome to the Big 10 Huskers, got a prime time showdown against the Badgers at Camp Randall coming up this fall!

It's about 5000 cu/ft with the door to the bathroom, stairs, and back room closed. Roughly 650 sq/ft with 7.5' ceilings except for the soffit area which is only about 6'10". The pos polk even makes some noise in it, at least enough for most of the stuff I listen to. Looking for better & lower sound, louder isn't going to hurt either!

Yes, I would like to add another, still waiting impatiently for the first one to arrive! The nerve of me, take months to make a decision and then have a problem waiting over a week for it to arrive:D

Ahhhhhhh ok that's not so bad then afterall. It looks bigger than 5000 but it's tough to say from just looking at some pics.

If I had known what I know now about how much the size of a room matters for bass, I never would have bought my home! :doh! 1: My room's roughly 11,000 cubic feet.
