Audio Video Online Forums - List and Comments

What audio and video related online forums do you frequent?

What characteristics do the various forums have, eg friendly, DIY-focussed, manufacturer oriented, etc.

I can anticipate some comments already, but I think it is highly likely that there are forums that many of us have not heard about or explored.

Additionally, this might be a good resource for newbys.

- small but active forum with lots of New York Audio Rave members and other New Englanders. Seen a few people from over here on there. It's a very friendly vibe. (so malcontents please stay away!!)
- Generally less budget and bargain and more modern and mid-fi. Angel city Audio is a sponsor.

Audiokarma -- www.Audiokarma.org
- mostly vintage fans, but there's a subforum for modern day hifi. Very active with every type of person imaginable, but it's pretty well behaved
- very few flame wars. There are people from all over but there seems to be a heavy emphasis on the midwest. (hence AKfest being in Detroit)

Audioreview - www.Audioreview.com
- fairly small forum but with quite a variety of people. No real geographic or price-point emphasis. Has a huge database of equipment user reviews and the administrators review a lot of gear as well. Definitely some flamers here, but they are regulars and everybody seems to make good sport of smacking them down. Sort of like Pirks on Dailytech...

- They have some great guides in the Audio Theory and Discussion and Subwoofer subforums.

At Mojave's suggestion I keep an eye on the "What's Best" forum. It is somewhat aimed at high budget people, but also has lots of good info for us regular types.http://www.whatsbestforum.com/forum.php?

A few I visit from time to time that aren't on your list:

Curt Palme Home Theater Forum - I use Another EAC3to GUI Plus, found on this forum, to rip my Blu-ray discs.

Blu-ray Forums - They have some great guides in the Audio Theory and Discussion and Subwoofer subforums.
