  • Oregon House / Hotels - Cannon Beach & Portland

I'm heading to Oregon in August 2011.

Likely flying into Portland and there is a wedding at Surfsand Resort at Cannon Beach, OR.

I was thinking of staying in a hotel in Portland a few days and then possibly staying at the Surfsand, but was also considering a house rental for a week at Cannon Beach.

Any suggestions on hotel (or house) rentals at:

    Portland, OR

    Cannon Beach, OR

    Surfsand Resort at Cannon Beach
    - which building / room types ?

    Thanks,

    Mike

      Thanks.
I was wondering if you might have an opinion.
Didn't you post pictures from there a while back?

          Ahh.

You pics were the first thing I recalled when I pulled up pics from googling Cannon Beach.

            Cool Mike,

I like renting houses, and normally stay one town south in Manzanita. I use ribbon realty for a lot of my rentals. Their website is http://www.ribbonvacationrentals.com/ lots of great rentals in the area. For Portland, really depends on what you want to do, or if you want to roam around. You could go up to Mt Hood and stay a nite at the Timberline lodge, very cool and rustic (where they filmed the shining) or you could stay in a B&B in wine country just south of PDX, or there are some cool hotels downtown like the Benson or the Hotel Vintage Plaza that are nice. Really depends what you'd like to see and what you wanna spend. If I'm in town, would be fun to get together for dinner or a drink if you are game too.

              Great info. Thank you.

A few neighbors were over last night for a movie (Tombstone) night.
They suggested Mt Hood/Timberline and exploring OR.
My wife just told me we have a place to stay (house) in Portland, so may do that one night and try Timberline, Astoria, etc.

It's a ways out, so I'm open to areas to explore to get some reservations in for some of these places.

              Thanks again!
