  • Motorsport Ranch Next Weekend!!!

Well, it is Spring and time to waste some rubber, fuel, and brake pads! We are running the "big" track (3.1 mile) the 15th/16th.

I picked up some new street/track tires...trying out a proven performer: Bridgestone Potenza RE-11s in a 265/35/18 all the way around. Staying away from R-comp tires until I get my suspension sorted out a bit more. Yes, this is the equivalent of tube swapping but with tires!

I'll have two students and get some quality track time with the instructor group, which is always fun! Wish me luck for the weekend...gotta keep the shiny side up!!!

Looks like fun, If I was closer I would come down for some fun.

That is still a little track, Road America is 4miles/lap :)

I believe I am headed to Mid-Ohio for the SCCA national the end of the month.

And yes keep the shiny side UP

I've always wanted to take a performance driving course, but it tends to be pretty expensive - especially if you don't want to run your own car. (just don't think I'd have much fun in my '01 Regal) Mid-Ohio does a course that uses a bunch of Acura TSX's but it's like $1450 for the 2-day course. Even the one-day course using my own car would be $625.

Kevin, let me know if you're headed down for sure. If the schedule lines up right maybe I can come out and be unhelpful in general. :neener 1:

All our tracks in Texas are on the short side compared to Road America! Have fun at Nationals! Not been but I can imagine how much fun that is! Are you driving, by the way? If so, what?!!!

Our rates are much better than that: $295/two-day with your own car...I don't know if you can get much better than that!

It's now looking like rain over the weekend...I'll be happy I'm on RE-11s and in my Subaru STI! The track is so smooth and polished at MSR that when it rains, it's like ice! A great learning tool for the drivers who have never run in the rain before....

Rain is the great equalizer in equipment, but brings the best drivers to the top

I havent driven for a few years, have been crew for a VERY long time. I had a Formula Continental I drove for a few years but as you know, audio can not come CLOSE to racing as far as expensive hobbies!

RA is a long track, but most of the others up here are short comparatively. Mid-O I will just be crewing for the weekend. You really should try and make it to a SCCA national event.

Here is one of the other tracks I go to, they have open track days all the time and its only $60 for 3hrs.... not bad http://www.gingermanraceway.com/

The Gingerman looks nice and a great price! With it's little bit of elevation relief, that could be a very fun track, and 1.9 miles is a great distance! The facilities look good, too!

Well, it was a great weekend, nothing broke, and my two students got faster! Here is an action shot of me coming out of the "toilet bowl" which is a big carrousel type corner (turn 9 on the map):

Looks good, sounds even better, when you dont break anything its been a good weekend.

Headed down to Mid-Ohio this weekend for the SCCA Nationals and then next weekend to Gratan. Gratan is a fun track with a TON of elevation change, on the back side I have gotten all 4 wheels in the air in a FC and you should see big bore door cars"thumbsup: http://www.grattanraceway.com/
