My wife is a big fan of Greg Mortensen and his book, Three Cups of Tea. She saw him speak at the Thousand Oaks Civics Arts Plaza here in SoCal a couple of months ago. I haven't read the entire book, only excerpts, but it certainly added to my understanding of the culture and geography of Pakistan and Afghanistan and the value of education.
