Hello! So I didn't know that there was a section for salutations! I just...posted. But you guys welcomed me with open arms anyways - thank you!
I'll just start a short intro for those of you that are interested... I'm a sophomore music composition and psychology major at UC Davis who recently just got into "real" speakers. My hobbies include computers, electronics, music, and ... cologne. Haha.
I'm a pretty hardcore marching band and drum corp guy, and teach marching band at a high school in the Bay Area (CA). If any of you guys are into competitive marching band, or watch DCI shows, totally hit me up and we can chat =)
I found out about real audio last year in the MaximumPC forums, where, while looking for a home theater renovation recommendation, one of the forum members recommended me the AV123 Rocket 5.0 system, with a MFW-15. The speakers our home theater had before were some very old **** Acoustimass (:embarass:). My family was super impressed the the Rockets, and that's when I became infatuated with them and how alive everything sounded - I had never heard any of that before! It was absolutely amazing. I decided I needed some good speakers at school, so I started saving up, and a last week, I saw the ELT525Ms at a crazy price and ordered them (replacing Logitech Z-4). Needing something to power them, that's how I started going on AVSforum, and then, eventually, here (thanks Craig). All this stuff is so addicting - I don't think my ears will ever be the same!
