I have 3 MFW-15's and I'm thinking about getting an SMS-1...I have a BEHRINGER DCX2496 but it's way too complicated for me and my little brain to operate...Is anyone using the SMS-1 and if so, how do you like it?

    Thanks,

    Bob

Bob, It's a terrific unit, and Outlaw has them on sale for $399.

Thanks Craig...I'm waiting on Scott Jackson to get back to me on the unit...:)

I don't like that it doesn't have XLR inputs though...that means I have to buy new cables now...anyone looking for 2 twenty foot XLR to RCA and 1 35 footer? ;)

Bob, unless something changed REALLY recently, it has XLR in and out ... from the owner's manual (and my units also have it) ....

        (6) LFE OUTPUT
        – This balanced connector sends the conditioned subwoofer audio signal
        to your subwoofer.

        (7) LFE INPUT
        – This XLR input jack receives the LFE signal from your receiver

The SMS-1 has XLR inputs. Sorry pic is so small, only one I could find.

Sweet...I must have been looking at an old picture or something as it didn't show XLR inputs...I'm going to buy one today!

+1 on the SMS. I use one and like it. Outlaw now offers it for $399 and is currently shipping free in the continuous US.

I was going to ask if you have tried configuring it with the room eq wizard software. I will be running tests on my room this weekend and getting started on my panels, so yeah I might be interested depending on my measurements. :)

edit: never mind, I see that is way more expensive than the DSP-1124P

                    Bob,
How old is the Behringer DCX2496? What are you asking for it?

It looks like the OP made their decision. I am very intrigued by the SMS, especially given the current offering at Outlaw.

Is the SMS necessary if my AVR (Marantz sr5003) offers Bass Management and room correction (Audessey)?

In the same line of thought, Pure/Direct mode disables AVR EQ and Bass Mgmt. Would using the SMS regain the features and/or counter the benefits of pure/direct?

I hope I'm not hijacking the thread :embarass:

Doesn't Pure Direct mode on most AVR disable the sub output completely? I guess I haven't tried it on my Yamaha.

On Denons you can configure it either way - with or without sub. I sometime use it with the sub, crossed over at 60Hz.

                            Hey Hal,

I bought it for the Chicago G2G in April...it was used that day and it has been in the box since then...

I'm looking to get $200.00 for it.

I'm looking at it more for HT but you are correct...pure direct does disable the processing and sub out. I don't typically use subs for 2 channel as the LS6's dig into the low 20's in my room.
