  • need new subs

1st off Ive followed Craigs subwoofer pursuits since he was still doing active testing and wish him the best of luck with CHT.I need a sub that can do both ht and music well. I currently own an Epik Phoenix sub and a now humming mfw 15 I bought just to see what the fuss was about. The Phoenix digs to about 16 hz and shakes the house like crazy and is a bulletproof sub. The mfw goes to about 20 hz and when working is a good sub for the money. The mfw had better midbass than the epik. The epik is just a little flabby for music with too little slam.I I like rock music. I want a sub slamming me in the chest for music that can dig to 15 hz or so with no flabbiness. I have no experience with sealed.Would I better off with the fr response curves I see from sealed subs?

You might just like our 18 inch sealed subs ... A pair of SS-18.1's could be good. What size room are you in?

Im about to move. The new house 3000 to 3500 cubic ft estimated. Didnt bring a tape. Craig , you had experience with the previous gen epiks. Was your impression of them similar to mine?

Compared to the other subs from 4 years ago, the Epiks were quite good. We have gotten to the point of having better sounding drivers.

If you want fast with extension, we can help.

I have little doubt any of your 18s will give me good extension. Im not hunting 10hz like many others. The rock concert type slam is what I feel Im missing the most. Sound quality at reference is a 2nd need. Many user reviews have cited these attributes to the be CHT strengths. Ive been considering this for awhile and am entering my final ocd stage for major purchases. Ill call after the holidays and we can nail down specifics.
