  • TAD subs on ebay

As of today, you can get 25% cash back from MSN live on the TAD sub. That makes it ~ $100 w/ shipping. I'm almost tempted to buy it just for that ridiculous price. I think the cabinetry is probably worth $100. Just thought I'd pass it along for anybody who needs to pick up a sub while waiting for Scamp.

Has anyone tried out this sub? Or is the brand reputable? A few friends are looking for subs.

I think there are a few users on AVS that have one. Can't really remember what people had to say about it.

I have one. for the money I think it's great. I don't think it would be fore the MSRP though, but I don't really have anything to compare it to until my ULWs get here.

I could not find these on MSN Live. I searched and searched. What am I doing wrong? I"d sure like to pick one up at this price.

I also check the TAD web site (www.tubeaudiodesign.com) and it doesn't look like he's selling any speakers or subwoofers at all now. Am I wrong? I have a pair of TAD speakers which I bought last March during his annual sale and they are great!

On ebay, search for "Aural Ecstasy SW-100". I believe he's liquidating his remaining sub inventory and selling the whole batch on ebay instead of his site.

Yes he is. I have a pair and for the money you would be hard pressed to find anything better. You would have to easily double the price and even at that rate the TAD can hold its own. The cabinetry is beautiful. Perfect for music and suitable for HT use.

I told you that you'd love them after they broke in.

He stopped making those and went to a smaller sub and the center channel that matches your speakers but the only color available for either is high gloss piano black. The 12" sub plans went out the window. Really a shame but I guess it just wasn't meant to be. Even CC thought the new design sub I asked him to evaluate thought it was pretty sweet.

Just a brief follow-up. My TAD SW-100 subwoofer came yesterday afternoon. I emailed Paul on the 6th to see if he had any left and mailed a Postal Money Order on the 7th. He replied that he got it on the 9th and said they would be shipped on Monday. I got them on Wednesday.

I know I won't win any friends but I have to say that my FedEx box had nary a dent or scratch. It arrived in perfect shape.

The subwoofer in gloss piano black is absolutely gorgeous. I set it on the kitchen table while my wife was still chatting with the FedEx young man. She came in (she is 76 and more interested in cookies than stereos) and said, "That is beautiful but you'll have to explain to me what it is and what it does." So it passed the WAF test with flying colors... minus a few comments on whose responsibilitiy it would be to dust it (we live in the country a mile and half down a dusty dirt road).

It is big, heavy, beautiful, front firing, it looks like about a 12" woofer... way more than I need because we just listen to music and not very loud at that.

I think I may order another one for a present. No way will I put one in the guest room!

Anyway, thank you for letting me know about this TAD sale! I can't wait to hear the small TCA subwoofer. I need one for our bedroom.

                      Larry:

Thanks for the info. Have you hooked it up and listened to it yet? If so, what are your thoughts?

No, sorry. It will be some time before we can hook it up. I have everything for my new set-up except for the interconnects and a new CD player to replace the Oppo (which I like very much, but I wanted a "real" CD player). We've had some health issues this year that have pretty much occupied our attention. I have to make or buy some interconnects, just haven't had the time or energy. It sure is pretty though!

Oh, I should post this separately but I'll mention it briefly here. I've been considering the NAD cd transport. I got an email this weekend from Pacific Valve about their cd players. They have a BADA model and a couple more excellent quality Chinese cd players on their web site all at good prices. One he said is very similar to the Jolida but considerably cheaper. All have latest DACs, the latest Philips, Sony mechanisms, etc. and are tube/hyrids.

They are worth the money. I have 2 of them. He has been trying to dump them for awhile now. Perfect for music only. For HT they are questionable. That is why he has a hard time selling them, besides not getting good support on the net. For HT they are too small at 10" and under powered at 100w.:his:

He had ALOT of issues with those things :nervous: so I wouldn't expect him to import anymore...
