  • New BIC VK-12

Just wondering what people's thoughts were on BIC's new sub. Apparantly this is a BIC America product (not Acoustech), but it looks to utilize the same design as the HSU designed Acoustech H-100.

The differences being: Kevlar driver and 1000W (peak) instead of 500W amp.

So are Kevlar drivers really better, or is it just marketing?

On the flip side...has anyone listened to BICs cheaper Venturi sub's before.

I have been looking for a small sub to hook up to my PC setup (Gizmo, Ref 0.5), and the Venturi V80 is cheap and small. Just wondering if it's sound is adequate, or if it's another all boom one note sub.

I'd think they're physically more durable compared to paper (kids), but as far as SQ goes I'm not sure..I know that my audioengine 5 woofers are kevlar and they sound pretty good.

I honestly wouldn't cheapen out on the sub, even for a nearfield system. In other words my Asub (10") is the smallest I would ever go for ensure reasonable extension and SQ. The H-100/VK-12 too (12"?).
