  • Stop subwoofer bass from leaking into other rooms

Interesting news for those of us living in apartments, town houses, or close proximity to neighbors, IF IT WORKS.

    Audyssey Low Frequency Containment

"Once we identified the frequency range that most readily pass[sic] through walls, we developed a process not only to reduce the level at those frequencies, but also apply psychoacoustic processing that restores the perception of low bass for listeners in the room."

Depending on the overall volume you're listening at, LFC eliminates almost all deep bass below 50Hz, and reduces bass frequencies up to 200Hz.
    Don't tell Craig. :SSH:

Why have a subwoofer then? Just run your mains full range for the same effect.

Well, if I am understanding this correctly, this thing is supoposed to greatly reduce everything below 50Hz going through the walls to disturb your neighbors, "while at the same time, applying psychoacoustic processing that restores the perception of low bass for listeners in the room." In other words, those in the room allegedly will still have the effect of the bass below 50 Hz but the neighbors won't.

This is why I built a dedicated room, no need for these gimmicks.

Wasn't trying to be cute, and it does sound like an interesting new feature, and I might use it if the wife went to bed, but in all honesty, I'd probably not even watch the movie if that were the case. Like MK says, turn off your sub, and just get partial enjoyment from it? May work for a chick flick, but not something like Tron!

Never been much of a fan of night mode (dynamic compression) either - again, just turn off the sub. I've even tried some good headphones, yes the full spectrum is there, but just way to sterile for my tastes, and seems very two dimensional.

For the same effect just put some bass shakers in the couch and cut off under 50hz to the sub. :fryingpan:

Like many have stated, just turn anything below 50Hz off and call it a night.
