  • Will a sealed Jamo D6 (15 inch) sub mesh w/ my CH.T's?

I have the CS-18.T (2 18 inch subs run of one Dayton amp) and while I like them, I have been toying w/ the idea of adding another sub.

The CHT's are located in my front stage on the side of my Mitsu 82 inch DLP.

I was thinking of adding this:http://www.vanns.com/shop/servlet/it...429/jamo-d6sub Jamo and locating it behind my main viewing area.

Sense the Jammo is sealed, it should not present a tuning problem (I have the Aud. Multi EQ that came w/ my Onk 3008) and should timbre match sense it is sealed...or not?

For $500 delivered, its a pretty good deal.

Also, what about the HSU ULS-15...it is a sealed sub, yes? Its on sale for $1099, more than I want to spend, but would it integrate?

I really don't understand you. You are not buying my sub, over $100, but you are considering a sub that is more money and won't even come close to the ouput and will for sure match your subs. The HSU cost $1100 plus shipping and I said a single of mine would cost $950 plus shipping. There is no compariso, single 15 vs dual 18's.

      MK,

I had no intention of actually buying the HSU. The Jamo, on the other hand is only $500 shipped. And my offer of 1K to you was exactly that, an offer.

I am at a loss as to why you did not counter offer, even though I PMed you saying we are close.

You want $950, I asked you to find the shipping price, and you never responded to me.

If you found the shipping price to be, say $150, that means you want $1100.

I would then offer $1050....see how that works:D

Dr. jitsu - You can indeed find a budget sub, save money and hope it integrates with your current room/subs. Or you can do the surefire thing and build on what you have.

Timbre matching doesn't work this way, that term is used for mains anyway, you want to timbre match your left, right and center speakers, for instance. Audyssey will not do this for you.

While it is not a great idea to mix sealed with ported, the biggest problem is that subwoofers need to be level or gain matched. This is where compatibility comes in is. If one sub is more capable than the other, it will drown out the lesser sub. You may not even notice it is there.

Do you think the 12" or 15" drivers you have been considering are capable enough to keep up with the 18's? :p

Get the 18.2 and don't look back. That thing behind your couch will be brutal.

Too brutal, me thinks, lol. To be honest a single 18.1 would be plenty.

FWIW, I intend to do the same thing one day. I will be adding 2 more 18's in the form of another 18.T or an 18.2.

It is simply physics, that is the way room interaction work.
2 subs will get you 90% of the way there. Make it three or four and you should be able to completely defeat your room modes. "thumbsup:

Either the 18.1 or 18.2 will work great behind your couch, no doubt. The 18.2 will be just a little cleaner at reference levels.

I agree with pretty much everyone here. Don't cheap out and get the Jamo. It probably won't add much to your output and might actually in some ways defeat what you already have going for you. Especially in the SQ department. If you think another 18 would be too much than that's great! You'll have some extra headroom, plus you never know, another 18 might not be as much as you had hoped for. I learned the hard way, that just adding more and more subs doesn't always get you the results you want. If I were you I'd just get another 18. Either the standalone 18.1, or 1 of the 18's with the amp. Depending on how you feel about the finish will help you decide which route to take.

Exactly. If you really feel you need just more 1 good sub, and want to keep your costs low, that'd be the route to go I think.

Shipping on the CS-18.1, to your location Dr. Jitsu, would be $90

How much would be a CS 18.2 plus separate Dayton amp?

I would do $1100 shipped then.

                              My only concern is delivery/packaging.

If I purchased directly from Craig I am 100% sure that if the sub is damaged during delivery it will be replaced.

Promise to go the extra mile in terms of packaging and you have a deal.
