  • What should I do with my Klipsch RW-12D 400 watt sub?

My 18T's are about to arrive on my doorstep (just got the call from R and L delivery :applause:) and I am trying to decide what to do with my Klipsch sub which is part of the following package: TV: 82 inch Mits DLP (3d ready), RECEIVER: ONKYO TX-SR608, floorstanding/MAIN SPEAKERS KLIPSCH RF-52 II B R , KLIPSCH RB-51 II R bookshelf/rears, KLIPSCH RC-52 II R center channel.

I also added an energy 1200 watt (yeah right) 8 inch sub to give the set up needed mid base.

Should I just keep the Klipsch sub as part of the HT, or should I move it to my bedroom music only system? My bedroom system is an HK 3490 100 watt 2.2 that is hooked up to an Onkyo C-S5Vl CD player, 2 Polk Monitor 70's and one Emotiva Ultra 12.

My bedroom system actually sounds better for music than my HT set up.

Do I want/need the Klipsch 12 inch when I have 2 super performing CHT 18's?

My living room opens to the kitchen and hallway so there is some room to fill.

Of course I will experiment, but I am also open to advice.

Oh, and I will be adding the WAF-1s to my HT.

I wouldn't bother with the Klipsch. Keep it as a backup, put it in another system or sell it. It won't keep up with the 18's.

I agree with Skeeter. Make the Klipsch sub go away in that system. It may be a great sub in another room or it may catch a nice $buck on a forum. Your call, but it's not going to do you any favors trying to integrate it with the CHT subs.
          Time waits for no man.

Exactly, the integration could be a nightmare. I doubt you'll be needing at all :biglaugh:

OK, first dumb question: I have a 7.2 system, so my line inputs go into the LFE, yes?

And by by it is to the Klipsch (although I will keep the energy 8 inch which really acts as a mid-bass).

I just recently sold that same sub you're trying to figure out what to do with on ebay about a year ago or so. I was shocked at how much i got for it. :D :applause:

                    Get rid of it definitely.

Regarding the Klipsch sub, I am going to echo the sentiments here. You won't be needing it in your main system.

                        WOW!!! They sound phenomenal!

I mounted one in the corner, my Klipsch 52 floorstanding speaker is between it and my TV. I have the energy on top of it.

The other sub is on the other side of my TV.

It shook the house on the beginning scene of Star Wars 2, ATT of Clones.

Better yet I played a Deadmou5 song with driving bass, and it was very tight and fast, not at all laggy.

Frequency is at 18, Bandwith at 0.5, Level at -6 (speakers are equidistant) Phase at 0, Frequency at 75, Gain at 4, Bass boost off, auto remote on and subsonic filter off.

Haha, I am just taking a break from listening to techno with mine. They are a blast, aren't they? :biglaugh:

I think you mean "Bandwidth at 0.1". Try the PEQ level at 0, it is about 2' o'clock on the dial. Kinda of odd, I know. You are cutting 18hz by 6db.

The difference will be subtle, because there is little information down that low, but when it is there, you'll want to feel it. :woo:

When you say PEQ level you are referring to the Parametric EQ level, yes? I moved it to the 2 O'clock position (0)

My bandwith is set at .4, should I move it down to .1?

Once the PEQ level is zero, then the bandwidth and frequency don't matter. In other words you aren't using your PEQ at no gain.

And don't confuse these settings with the amp gain and crossover frequency (which should be set to it's highest value - 200; you are using your AVR to do the crossover).
