Maybe you should post this on the av123 forum also. Good news is in short supply over there.

im banned there.. for wanting to talk about said bad news....

*sigh* *shrug* as of this point my customer relationship with them is pretty much over, and should they somehow survive i will never be a patron again nor would i ever in good conscience tell anyone to purchase anything from them and if someone were wanting to i would actively tell them it was a bad idea.... :(

sad thing is that this isnt good news.. took me more then a month and a half to get this fixed..... should have taken a week and in fact even then i should never should have needed both a new driver and amp i should have just gotten a working sub.... too bad QC is absolute crap there... :(

I have a stack of amps in the other room, a matching stack of drivers should be joining it this weekend, got a few things to sort out and get the Block off plates done.......

I'm thinking it may have gotten stuck to the magnet...

will have to open it up to see...

i may do that this weekend but i want to do a very thorough examination of the area to make sure i didnt kick it somewhere or something like that...

I did think that at first though.. but having closed everything up i just shrugged it off and if it is. meh. gotta open it up and do it again.. no biggie though. the entire change out took about 15 mins..

I didn't receive an allen key with my sub, WTF? I even ordered a spare driver and still, no key! Had to borrow from my machinist neighbor, think it is a 13 mm, a real oddball size.

Even if the faceplate isn't yet installed, you will want to thread the screws into the baffle to block off the holes and seal the enclosure. Be careful, those T-nuts like to fall off, a real PITA.

What was the root cause of your problem, Matt? Mine was a cold solder joint on one of the driver terminals or the amp end bullet connector(s) on the harness. Was a lot of fun troubleshooting that one, had to check the MFW-15 driver with another sub amp I have sitting around, then check the MFW-15 amp with another driver I also have sitting around. Both worked fine, ugh! I had them send me another woofer with the harness soldered on properly and asked for a double run of 4 meter IC's for my trouble. Yeah I could have easily soldered another wire on, but then I would have to go find the right sized bullet connectors and an iron, this way I figured I would have a backup driver if needed. I did end up going to the hardware store and getting some weatherstripping to seal the damn thing properly, as it wasn't included either.

                          I've got one for you.

Talk about getting into the middle of a mess.

In December 2008, I initially recommended a MFW-15 to my brother. Before it shipped, I found out about all the amp failures and notified my brother. He chose to go through with it anyway. (Should have been his problem at that point). Amp failed in March and got a replacement some times in July/August. Because of a move, I didn't get a chance to put the amp in until November. That amp blew immediately. Brother very much pissed off. I sold him my Velodyne for $250 off as I felt some responsibility for this mess. A few weeks ago, brought home his MFW-15. Got a replacement amp and driver. Sounds pretty good but not as good as my PB Ultra 13. Brother doesn't want it, I don't want it and selling it where it would involve shipping (no box and would have to pay to get it packaged) would run the cost up to where I doubt anyone would want it. Plus, I really want to wash my hands of this and not deal with someone calling me in a few months about another amp failure.

So...the Salvation army is picking it up today.

Just had to get this off my chest. :hissyfit:
