  • Learned of a new sub today

...from a familiar name. Quite a few of you might already know about it, as I know several here frequent AVS. I don't, but have started lurking a little bit over there late at night when the rest of TCA is asleep.

Bossobass is making some subs, and from what I read he plans to sell them. I think they look waaay cool. He's calling it the Raven

That thing looks like a beast!

Does he have any idea of the cost? Who I am kidding I need to put the credit card back in my wallet for awhile. :nervous:

I am in the market for a new sub but I am sure this is out of my 2k range. Looks seriously nice though. Way to go Bosso!

Not that I found. The only reference to price I found was during some sparring between Ed Mullen (SVS) and him about running the PB13 in sealed mode. Ed made some comment about show me a sealed sub for $1500 that outperforms the PB13 as a whole. Bossobass replied with a picture of that.

I'm sure that's not going to be the selling price though. The amp is rated at 2700 watts RMS 8 ohm!! There is no reference to price on his website that I can see.

Interesting to note that during their banter, they both complimented Seaton on the Submersive, with Ed M even saying it's pretty much a perfect sub. Also reading through stuff over there I looked up the Danley products....wow!!

I'd still contact him and see what he has to say. But for that budget, Submersive has got to be somewhere near the top of your list. Or multiple Sasquatches when they get here...

Submersive is basically what I am looking at now. I am poking around at other stuff but it seems hard to beat the quality of the Submersive. I will PM him and ask. Will report back if I hear anything.

Dave is a class act. I'm happy for him and delighted to see him enter the subwoofer arena. Looks like an incredible product. Wish him nothing but the best.

In that discussion, Bosso said that his sub would sell for less than two PB13's. That puts it at about $3000 or so. At that price, it had better perform.

The story that most don't know is that Jeff Dunham modeled Walter's looks and disposition directly from Jack.....:poke:

I remember reading his posts at av123 back when I joined in 2004. I knew immediately he possessed a deep reservoir of technical knowledge about all things audio.

But as the 'out of sight, out of mind' theory goes, I didn't think about soliciting advice from him in my recent sub purchase. Craig and a couple others (along with my prior experience with SVS) steered me in that direction. I don't know the dollar figure associated with Dave's design, but I would've been very interested if the $'s were right.

It has a very distinctive look, and I like it. Did you guys read about his motor cooling system??

That same page has been up for quite a while. I don't think it was Bosso that started it. I wish I could remember the guys name. I talked to him a long time ago about Adire drivers and read his entire page. (same page that is linked)

Yeah....since I'm not over at AVS or other forums much, I just didn't know about it. I actually figured more folks here would've seen it before.

$3000 seems reasonable to me, if what I'm imagining is true....
