I want to buy a small 8" subwoofer for HT/music for me small 12'.9" x 11'.2" room. I already own a Mirage LF-100 sub purchased a few years back for the same room. I've always thought it did a remarkable job in my small room for both HT and music. My intention is to move that to my bedroom for music. I'm considering the newer Mirage Prestige S8, a smaller but seemingly more potent 8" sub with dimensions of a little more than a cubic foot. It seems like a no brainer at only $249.00 at Vann's. I've always thought Mirage made a well engineered product. Can I really do any better with a similar sub at the same price? Thanks.

However, I'd recommend you order from wwstereo through ebay using the live.com search so you can get 12% cashback as I did - $219 and change for it shipped, brand new w/ full warranty.
Just a week ago, this sub was $279 at Vann's and $299 at WWStereo - until I called WWStereo to get them to price match, since I already had a 10% off coupon there. Well, they dropped the price down, and apparantly Vann's tried to undercut them by dropping it again today. So I called WWStereo again, and got them to price match again. They told me they couldn't honor the 10% coupon on the price match this time since they usually don't on price matching (they were going to the first time), and this price put them too close to cost. I did however, get them to post it for $249 on ebay so I could take advantage of the live.com deal. For once, my persistance paid off and what I was originally going to pay $279 for a couple weeks ago, I got for $219. A couple users over at AVS jumped on this deal too, so there should be some feedback soon. According the the number available on ebay...looks like wwstereo already sold 4 today. It actually feels good to know I got a kick ass deal, and that other audio folk can get in on it too.
Anyway, back on topic....I asked the same question you did, essentially. Here's the feedback I got...

Obviously, since I just bought one, I felt the Prestige was my best option in this price range/class of subs - taking into account various factors, especially getting it for $219. I guess I'll find out in a couple days if I made the right call. What little info I could find on the Mirage Prestige/Energy Veritas subs, as well as the Mirage Omni/Energy S_.3 series subs (step down series) all pointed to these being tight musical subs. The specs Mirage/Energy provide are probably optimistic - it's my understanding they are best case scenario, in-room response...but the general consensus seems to be that they have good sound quality. And the Prestige S8 seems to be the perfect fit for my needs.

Well, I will have mine tonight when I pick it up from UPS.
WWStereo shipped my original order placed yesterday morning, credited me the original price I paid, then applied the ebay purchase price to my invoice. Basically, they saved me a day of waiting, after already accomodating my price-match and ebay requests. I am very impressed with their customer service.
I should be able to give the S8 a little work tonight to get an idea of what it can offer. But these will be quick first impressions for now.
