  • My A5 Review - Where's the review?

I got an email from Jon asking for a review of my recent purchase, which is the A5s of course. I assume all of you who bought A5s got the email. There was a link to post the review which I used, but I had no idea where the review went. I found it this morning. It's at http://www.theaudioinsider.com/produ...eviews_id=249&

This outed me as Bill (William W actually), which is fine, newspeakers is a dumb handle anyway. Interestingly, there is a separate part of TAI forums just for reviews at http://www.theaudioinsider.com/forum...-Owner-Reviews. Jon put a link to my review there. I posted a short review of the A1b there last week.

If you go to the Online Store at the top of the page, click on ARX, then A5, then the Reviews tab, you'll find the review, but not Buford's (aka Collin) review of the prototype.

If you then click on News & Reviews toward the top of the page, you'll find another link to my review and Buford's review.

In addition, people are inclined to review ARX speakers here in the ARX Speakers forum.

I hope I have cleared up the situation.:D

I read your review and have very little to add. I am running the A5's as the L & R on my modest 5.1 home setup. The A1b's are in my private office as a small 2.0 setup. The speakers are very, very nice and produce impressive sound quality. Newspeakers/William/Bill hit the nail on the head in his review, and used a nice Monty Python reference to boot. Well done! Perhaps, "there is a new sheriff in town"(Blazing Saddles) :p Sorry, couldn't help myself. I, too, am thoroughly enjoying my Arx speakers. Best, Bradley

Actually, I think I blew it. The final line of my review should have been:

Nobody expects a speaker this good at its price.

+1 I have been looking for quite some time and these are a great value, imho.

I made a point to avoid Buford's A5 review before I wrote mine. I did not want to be influenced. I am pleased that our reviews, as well as comments by others, are all very similar. We all have the exact same reactions to he A5. As someone with a less than educated ear, it pleases me to be able to discern the same qualities as a pro such as Buford.

I also want to thank Buford for his original review a year ago (OMG, its actually been exactly a year). That's the reason I joined the group buy and now am enjoying the A5s.

I appreciate all of you who take the time to put pen-to-paper and author your listening experiences.

I can tell you that Jon is a stand-up guy. As am I. We have no intention of misleading anyone about what to expect of the A5. However, both of us personally, held VERY high expectations for the A5 or else it would not have been brought to bear. It gets out of the way of the music!!!

No need to thank me. I do audio because I love it. Thank Jon Lane for sticking his neck out on a project with his own company, his money, and his time.

Thank YOU, Newspeakers, for taking the time to share your thoughts with the community. :)
