  • Suggestions for L- R surround speakers to go with ARX A3.

    Hi All,

    Here is my setup:
    DENON AVR 2112CI
    ARX A3 Front L- R
    Acculine A2 - Center.

Due to space constraints i cannot put an A2 or A1 for L/R surround.
Any suggestions for cubes/satellites that would go with ARX/Acculine sound consistency?

    Thanks for your inputs!

Will the A4 fit the bill? I believe these will be designed to be wall mounted. The A4s may also have better timbre matching. I'm currently using SLS speakers for surround duties while waiting for the A5s. Although the SLS speakers use ribbon tweeters, they seem to be more forward than the Arx speakers. I think this is called timbre matching?

The SLS speakers were bundled with the Z-7 towers which use the NEO3 tweeters so they may work for you. I believe you can get a pair for $109 and they can be wall mounted as well (although I have mine on the custom stands sold by Av-express).

      thanks!

      Thanks D'Argo!
Where do i find the info/pictures on A4,.. i could not locate on this forum!
I will look into the SLS one's. They seem a bit bigger to my liking.. I was more inclined on the cambridge soundworks, either their Cube series or the S205 ones. Not sure if they are a good timbre match for the ARX though.

jaymacher, the info is in the "Future Arx Speakers" thread. The A4 is not yet in production but it will be next after the A5s are released (based on the last news, if I recall correctly). The A4 (formerly A7) ballpark dimensions are below. This is based on Jon's reply last December. Not sure if it has changed.

Sorry I have no experience with the Cambridge soundworks (and cannot comment).

I think it may be in that ballpark, K-Dubb. It's intended for the smaller end of the effects speaker range, and will probably be set to 'small' in all but the smallest systems and rooms.

I wound up going with the eben lee cubes for my surrounds. I must say I am jus as impressed with the sound quality of these as my arx a1s and a2. I am currently using the a1s as fronts while I wait on the a5 to arrive. The cubes integrate perfectly even though the are so tiny, and I suspect they will work just as well with the a5s. Somewhat pricey, but exactly what I was looking for. Here is a link...their site needs work but the info is there.

Thank you, K-dubb. I went to the site and saw that they use Hi-Vi (Swan) drivers for the cube.

Here's the link. It's interesting that they show you how to DIY the cube.
