  • A2 versus A3 for LCR, 80Hz and up, how to choose?

I would like to use either three A3's or A2's for my LCR in my front projector home theater, 80Hz and above.

They would be used with a couple of 10" Adire audio XBL2 subwoofers.

The A2's would all be used vertically.

Since the A2's and A3's are so similar, how would I decide which is best for me?

Let's say price is not a factor since the prices would be so similar if I added in the price of stands for the A2's.

Use: 90% home theater, 10% music.

What did you decide? I am in the second group buy for the A5, but would have no problem running A2's for LCR. I love the ribbon tweet on these. They are just so smooth. For 80Hz and up I am sure the A2's would be just fine.

I've asked Jon this question and am curious to hear from anyone else who might be able to compare them. From what I've gathered from Jon the A2 will have a huge soundstage and the A3 retains it's pinpoint imaging of the A1 while adding an extra woofer to reinforce the bottom end. It's kind of an interesting comparison because they both have 2 drivers but you're basically choosing an MTM 2 way configuration or a TMM 2.5 way.

This is just about how I would have answered. Since I've heard both C versions, I'll add that the double woofer models really responded well to the new tweeter.

Both are, in my view, reference-grade for the price and class in terms of clarity, dynamics, and musicality. Both jumped well past their predecessors. Something going on here that just delivers on the big clean spacious sound.

Now we just need to get the bloody things in stock. This has been the most protracted and frustrating sourcing we've seen in a long time. More apologies for the unending delays, may they end soon.
